COMMUNITY PHARMACY: Available at Kipharma, Rite Pharmacy, Goodlife Pharmacy, and Pharmacy Conseil Learning outcomes: Having successfully completed the clerkship in community pharmacy department, students should be able to: ❖Practice of Community/retail pharmacy and effectively describe its set up and organization ❖Effectively perform a final verification of the prescription to ensure appropriateness of drug selected, dosage and strength; accuracy of transcription from hard copy prescription to patient label, appropriateness of auxiliary labels, and that the patient has no contraindications or drug-drug, drug- disease interactions with the new medication ❖Demonstrate the proper usage of the commonly used blood glucose meters, available asthma inhalation devices and train patients how to use them properly 4. Correlate OTC brand name products to their generic ingredients. ❖Effectively interview a patient to pinpoint their symptoms and then recommend an OTC product to treat their symptoms.(I. Recognize when a patient's problem warrants a physician referral ii. Effectively counsel a patient on their prescription and herbal/alternative) and also Correlate OTC brand name products to their generic ingredients
HOSPITAL PHARMACY
- King Faisal Hospital: A placement fee of $100 per intern is required. - CHUK (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Kigali): ❖$80 USD per month of clinical placement for students from East African Community (EAC) member states. ❖$250 USD per month of clinical placement for foreign students, including post-graduate students. Learning outcomes: Having successfully completed the clerkship in hospital pharmacy, students should be able to: ❖Understand Structure of the hospital pharmacy department ❖Understand Procurement and stock control with in the hospital pharmacy ❖ Assess prescription(s) with respect to whether they are required, safe, effective, and compliance- appropriate, ❖Understand dispensary and Medicines information to (in/out-patients) ❖Understand the role of the pharmacist in wards in the provision of pharmaceutical care
- RESEARCH At Biotechnology Complex Lab, University of Rwanda: Located in Huye, Southern Province of Rwanda, the Biotechnology Complex Lab at the University of Rwanda offers research internships. This internship focuses on cutting-edge research in biotechnology, Advanced pharmaceutics such as spectroscopy, drug design, drug testing, etc, contributing to scientific knowledge and innovation in the field. These opportunities allow students to engage in meaningful research activities, fostering growth and advancement in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological fields.

Hosting family is available in Kigali specifically for male students. By contacting the SEO, arrangements can be made within the student's budget. Affordable accommodation options close to key sites can be arranged to ensure convenience for all students.
Board, pocket money or other financial benefits/remuneration
Pocket Money and Remuneration: RPSA-Rwanda does not provide pocket money or remuneration. However, many employers may offer these benefits to their trainees.
Social Events and Trips: Discounts may be available during night events, social outings, or trips. Additionally, The association may also cover some trip expenses and event tickets.

Getting Here: The SEO will help you get a Visa by sending you an invitation letter and give all the documents you might need Airlines servicing Kigali International Airport are: RwandAir, Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, KLM, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines. Helicopter transfers within Rwanda are available through Akagera Aviation.
IMMIGRATION AND VISAs Citizens of all countries are allowed to get visa upon arrival without prior application.
Citizens of country members to the African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie can get free visas upon arrival in Rwanda for a visit of 30 days.
A citizen of East African Community Member States can receive a pass/entry visa free of charge upon arrival for a six-month stay in Rwanda.
Visitors from the following countries can be granted 90-day visas at no cost upon arrival in Rwanda: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, The Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Haiti, Mauritius, Philippines, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe, Singapore and the State of Qatar.
Citizens of countries that are not visa exempt have an option of applying online or at the Rwanda Diplomatic Mission of the country of residence before departure. Those applying online have the option to pay online or upon arrival. There is no single affiliated agent that is authorised to apply for a visa on your behalf.
The visa fees must not exceed 50 USD for single entry visa or 70 USD for multiple entry.
