Board, pocket money or other financial benefits/remuneration
Most positions are unpaid and no spending money is provided. Australia can appear very expensive compared to some other countries and students should be prepared for this. They will be expected to bring spending money to cover any social events, outings and gifts. Visa and MasterCards are both commonly used in Australia, however, the student should also bring cash in the local currency which is Australian dollars.
English. Additional languages can be very useful depending on the community pharmacy in which the student is placed.
Information on Work Permits and Visa
Unless you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, you will need a valid Australian visa to enter the country. All other passport holders, regardless of age, must apply for a visa before leaving home. You can apply for a range of Australian visa types, including tourist visas and working holiday visas, at your nearest Australian Embassy or Consulate. You can also browse for and apply for certain types of visas on the Australian Department of Home Affairs website at: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder/visit
Eligible students are selected by the SEO, however, if a suitable host community of pharmacy is not found, the exchange will not be able to proceed. Updated on 01/11/2020.
