Area possibilities
Community Pharmacy : Internship in Apothecary/Drug Store (Dispensing, Counselling, Distribution) We are offering Community Pharmacy placements to approximately 15 students.
Research: Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Biochemistry, University of Zagreb We are offering Research placements to approximately 5 students. Departments are TBA. We will try to find research placements upon the request, but we CANNOT guarantee that we will be able to do that.
We will be looking for more host sites and another type of internship during the whole year and if we find enough placements, we will accept more than 20 students. We do not have placements in the industry at this time.
Length of training periods
Community pharmacy: 2 weeks
Research: length is agreed between the student and the mentor (from 2 weeks up to 1 month)
Available months and cities
Community pharmacy: SEP will take place in the capital city of Croatia, Zagreb with a weekend trip to Split and/or Plitvice lakes. This year's SEP will take place in second half of July 2026. (2 weeks)
Research: Research dates are agreed based on the student's and the mentor's availability. (from 2 weeks up to 1 month)
Type accommodation
Community Pharmacy: Students will be placed in a student dormitory in Zagreb. Accommodation price will be around 280€. If the students want to find their own accommodation, we can assist them in finding the best place.
Research: Student dormitory is only available in the second half of July and throughout August. It is NOT available in June, first half of July and September. Keep in mind you will have to look for your own accommodation, but our team will assist you finding the best one.
Board, pocket money or other financial benefits/remuneration
No pocket money is provided. We advise you to bring 30-50€ per day.
Language requirements
The students should be able to speak high level English. The knowledge of any other language is a plus, but not required.
The majority of people in Croatia can speak English: most of the students and young people in Croatia speak English very well, and others should be able to at least understand you. We are requiring hosts to be able to speak English so that you can easily communicate during your practice.
Other requirements
For any type of placement, you will need to bring your LAB COAT.
If you are placed in a Community pharmacy, you will have to bring SHOES WITH NON-SLIP SOLES!
Information on Work Permits and Visa
Croatia is a member country of the European Union, so most students do not need Visa documents. However, if Visa documents are needed, SEO should be informed in time to arrange everything needed. If it is necessary, we will provide an invitation letter. You can check all the information here: http://www.mvep.hr/en/consular-information/visas/visa-requirements-overview/
If you are from one of the countries that need a Visa, please check how long the process of your application is and apply for a Visa as soon as possible. We recommend that you apply for a Visa AT LEAST 3 MONTHS before your SEP practice so that we can arrange everything and solve any problems if they arise. If your Visa application requires you to write your accommodation, please contact us as early as possible (or AT LEAST 3 MONTHS before your SEP practice) so that we can arrange the accommodation and get your confirmation letter for it.
We urge you not to wait long with your application and with contacting the SEO about it because it takes some time to get a Visa. We need time to prepare anything, and if some problems arise, it is better to have more time to solve them or for students to apply again if necessary.
A work permit is not needed.
Selection Procedures
The selection of the exchange students is made by SEO.
