Area possibilities
Community Pharmacy
Length of training periods
1-2 weeks (minimum of 40 hours for SEP to be successful)
Available months and cities
Placements will take place in Dunedin, South Island. Dunedin is very much a student city!
Type accommodation
Accommodation will be in a flat most likely with other students or in a backpackers, air bnb or a hotel if the student prefers. Alternatively we can try to arrange a studio room for you or something similar but this is generally more expensive. The student will have to pay for accommodation on their own.
Board, pocket money or other financial benefits/remuneration
Work in the community pharmacies will not be paid work. There will be no remuneration paid by the pharmacy and no other financial support can be provided.

All interested students are welcome. Students who have completed at least one or more years at their home association's pharmacy school will take priority.
Information on Work Permits and Visa
Unless you hold New Zealand or Australian citizenship, you’ll need to arrange the correct travel authority before coming to New Zealand. This will be either an NZeTA (for travellers from visa-waiver countries) or a Visitor Visa. Travellers who are not from visa-waiver countries must secure their visa prior to departure.

Both NZeTA and Visitor Visa applications can be submitted online through Immigration New Zealand’s official portal.
Selection Procedures
Eligible applications for Winter SEP 2025/26 must be submitted by January 31st 2026, and candidates are selected by the SEO. However, if no suitable candidate is identified among the applicants, the exchange will not take place.
